BIO
Erika
Sass was born in Ohio, in November 1976. She only lived
there for a short time before moving to Kauai, Hawaii and
then onto California, where she currently resides. Erika
has one sibling, a 13-year-old sister, who lives in Riverside
with her mother. Erika grew up in Riverside California where
she was always very involved in anything that had to do
with art. She was always drawing or painting or being involved
in some creative aspect of the arts. In high school she
became actively involved in many organizations and clubs,
but her favorite and most memorable today was the Art Club.
This is where she prepared a portfolio to apply to various
colleges and universities.
After
high school Erika went on to Otis College of Art and Design
where she wanted to become an animator. She always loved
to draw and cartoons were something she really enjoyed.
After going through her first year at Otis she realized
that traditional animation was involving more and more computer
generated effects. This is where she found her true passion.
She went on to major in the Digital Media program at Otis
where she would learn all sides of the computer graphics
industry which was fairly new at the time. Erika decided
that 3D graphics were her true passion and she went on to
incorporate this art within the field of video games. This
was a field that was continuing to grow and expand its artistic
technology and this interested her a great deal. With this
realization, Erika focused her time on learning 3D software
and techniques while preparing a demo reel for after graduation.
After
graduation Erika went on to work at various companies, ICT,
Institute for Creative Technologies, where she worked on
a Virtual Reality simulation for the Army, then she went
on to a video game company called Savage entertainment,
and then to Sony Imageworks. Currently she works at EALA,
Electronic Arts Los Angeles where she is a 3D artist working
on next generation video console games. Her most recent
project was Medal of Honor: “Rising Sun”, which
was released Christmas 2003.
