In addition to acting, Goodman is a spoken word artist. Featured performances include the Bowery Poetry Club, WBAI 99.5, The Slipper Room, The Cornelia Street Café/Pink Pony West, The Back Fence, The Orange Bear, on the steps of City Hall in Jersey City, NJ. Goodman is a trained singer and has performed in several dance troupes, including the Pirouette Dance Company and the Young Americans of Washington, both based in the Washington D.C. area. Her passion for experimentation and the artistic process often finds these mediums blending together into single pieces of work. She explores political, social and spiritual themes, while striving to create work that is open and accessible.
Goodman founded Art House Productions in order to cultivate a vibrant artistic community. She is committed to creating supportive, challenging environments where artists can perform and develop their work. Since September 2001, Art House Productions has developed performance, broadcast, and publishing opportunities for artists, hailed as "a fascinating chance to interact with talented poets, artists, performers and local residents" by Eugene Mulero of The Hudson Current and "extremely cool" by Lise Avery on her WFDU radio show, Anything Goes!! With Lise Avery.
Goodman hosts THE ART HOUSE, an open mic performance series held the first Thursday of every month in Jersey City, NJ. The events have a featured performer followed by an open mic for poets, actors, comics, writers, and acoustic musicians. Past features have included Reg E. Gaines (Book/lyrics of Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk, Obie Award winner, two time Tony Award nominee and Grammy Award nominee), Regie Cabico (National Poetry Slam champion, winner of MTV’s ‘Free Your Mind’ competition, PBS series ‘In the Life’ feature, performer on HBO’s Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry, 1997 recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Poetry Fellowship), Ishle Yi Park (Queens Poet Laureate), Ken McManus (Pushcart Prize Nominee), and Mahina Movement (NYC activist performance troupe).
