WHAT IS DIVA OF THE MONTH?
United
Divas recognizes women who excel in multiple artistic disciplines.
When observing role models for females today, there are very
few well-known female artists outside the music and acting world.
However, there are many women combining several talents to serve
their artistic needs, who captivate the attention of their audiences
with their multi-dimensional careers. United Divas supports
and nurtures female role models who possess the artistic skill
sets that position them as future cultural leaders.
***HOW
DO WE RECRUIT DIVAS?
The
person we look for when choosing who to spotlight as "Diva
of the Month is a woman
who works within an artistic or creative career field that utilizes
multiple talents for their projects or a woman
who excels in multiple creative career fields. There are 4 phases
United Divas follows to process each application for Diva of
the Month:
1 - Application & Portfolio Submission - Visit our Submissions guidelines page for
details on how to submit your work, or the work of someone
you feel deserves recognition on UnitedDivas.com.
2
- Review - 3 or more people review submission.
3 - 2nd Inquiry - Request for more information
about work and future plans, as well as any information that
might fill in fuzzy areas of submission.
4 - Notification - You will be notified whether
you were or were not selected for recognition. If selected,
the Diva will be asked to conduct an interview and provide
any necessary updates for their gallery on UnitedDivas.com.
Referrals
We take referrals from anyone, or you can refer yourself if
you like. All referrals are accepted, however, applicants making
the referral must follow the standard application guidelines.
Scouting
We also attend several types of events and read several arts/music
publications to search for talent. If you would like to recommend
an event or show featuring artists United Divas should see,
please email referrals@uniteddivas.com.
Note: We are not as interested in recognizing undergraduate
students as Diva of the Month at this time, but if you are a
student interested in volunteering for United Divas, please
send an email with a little about what you do and how you would
like to be involved to referrals@uniteddivas.com.
Benefits
& Rewards for "Diva of the Month"
If you are chosen to be a diva, you will get:
- Your own "gallery" in our artists' section where
you can post music, video, photos, and more web friendly formats
of your work. You can send us new information, and we will
update it once a month for as long as you like.
- An email interview for your gallery section.
- A link, with a photo, to your gallery and your interview
from the home page of our website for your first two Months
as a Diva.
- Inclusion in our events listings & monthly newsletter
announcements, as long as you provide updated information
for us to use.
- Inclusion in our referrals pool. When someone contacts us
for something that you might be able to do, you will automatically
be included in our referrals. You are not required to be exclusive
to United Divas. We are not an agency, just a group of artists
sharing resources.
- To participate in our annual event that showcases the multiple
talents of our divas. Proceeds from this annual event will
be used to start a scholarship fund for single mothers and
mothers from low-income households to further their education
in the arts. You are not required to participate in this event,
but you will have first choice for involvement and planning.
