Reneé A. Fox - Paintings - LA - RAFKHO Studios

If one looks closely, the most ordinary thing becomes extraordinary, offering "seeds" for new thoughts and experiences. My paintings are a result of looking closely at plants and using what I see in an abstract language, biomorphic abstraction. I collect specimens of all types and paint abstractions of them, while using clear, representational imagery at the same time. The work is influenced by ideas the subjects trigger in my memory; as icons of beauty, order, sex, religion. As symbols, most people will understand that a red rose means passion, love. Public reading of my work is heavily influenced by symbolic meaning. They may also be seen as innuendo or metaphor. Qualities of the subject contribute to building the work (formal aspects of the paintings) as well as their titles which are given appropriately upon completion of the work..

Holly Williams - Paintings - LA

This series of paintings depict a new exploration of the Los Angeles landscape filtered through the photographic and rendered with traditional oil painting techniques.
Here the photographic works in the service of painting, rather than in opposition; the photographic blur flattens and aestheticizes the image, stripping it of detail and leaving only traces of light and fields of color. This loss of information makes the image more conducive to an open painting process, the image becoming a compositional framework which can be morphed and altered.

Trang Chau - Drawings and Sculpture - LA

The impaling of the skin, the mutation of the body, and the oozing of the wet and the slime, are visceral elements that Trang is attracted to and investigates in her work. Using the different media of sculpture, painting, photography, fashion, video, and performance, she investigates the feminine body under rupture, power, and anxiety.

Her work blurs the line between Fashion and Fine Arts by combining a hybrid that uses the body as a prosthetic means to bringing forth in the viewer the dichotomies of fear and curiosity, repulsion and attraction, and sex and death. Trang’s sculptures, paintings, and performances/fashion shows have been exhibited primarily in Los Angeles. She has also contributed her work to film through production design and writing.

Susan Joseph - small works on paper- LA

Susan Joseph is a Los Angeles based artist who has exhibited her evocative installation works, whimsical kinetic sculpture and works on paper extensively over the past twenty years. Her work's consistent theme is an investigation into the issues of feminism and class, most recently in the video installations: "Fetish: pseudological studies in objectivity," and "Chronicle Elsewhere" which explore the metaphors of domestic and public space in contemporary media-saturated life.

Moira Hahn - Painting/mixedmedia - LA - http://www.moirahahn.com/

The paintings echo a search for meaning in my life and help me understand and convey (in visual language) what I may not be able to articulate otherwise.
Eastern art influenced me a great deal, from early childhood. Social and political commentary can sometimes be found in the work, but only to the extent that it has become internalized and autobiographical.

Her paintings are included in several museum and corporate collections, including the Smithsonian Institution, the Oakland Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, the De Young Museum, the Achenbach Foundation, and UCLA Medical Center.
