About Jennifer Leonard

Jennifer Leonard is a member of IDEO's Design Community in California. Her craft is content creation and communication. Her tools are research and writing.

Prior to IDEO, Jennifer fed her desire to express big ideas in a people-friendly way while working as a radio broadcaster and print journalist; her work has been published in Details, Nylon, Azure, Shift, Seed and Saturday Night. She also co-authored Massive Change with Bruce Mau, a book on the future of design. As a result, she has delivered several keynote lectures at design conferences around the world. Past gigs include DESIGNMAI (Berlin, DE), World Design Congress (Copenhagen, DK), Utrecht Manifest (Utrecht, NL) and IdcN (Nagoya, JP).

Jennifer is a graduate of the design think-tank the Institute without Boundaries; the University of Western Ontario (Anthropology); and Queen's University (Sociology). She also studied at The Graduate School of Journalism at the University of Western Ontario, where she won the Top Researcher award and Norman Jewison prize for creative writing.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and raised on the shores of Lake Huron, Jennifer now resides in a garden cottage in San Francisco.
