| Searching
for divas! |
| We
are always searching to find our next diva of the month. Each month we
recognize a multi-disciplined female artist as diva of the month.
If you are chosen to be a diva, you will get:
-
Your own "gallery" in our artists' section where you can post
music, video, photos, and more web friendly formats of your work. You
can send us new information, and we will update it once a month for as
long as you like.
- An email interview that will be archived in your gallery section.
- A link, with a photo, to your gallery and your interview from the home
page of our website for your first Month.
- Inclusion in our events listings & monthly newsletter announcements,
as long as you provide updated information for us to use.
- Inclusion in our referrals pool. When someone contacts us for something
that you might be able to do, you will automatically be included in our
referrals. You are not required to be exclusive to United Divas. We are
not an agency, just a group of artists sharing resources.
- To participate in our annual event that showcases the multiple talents
of our divas. Proceeds from this annual event will be used to start a
scholarship fund for single mothers and mothers from low-income households
to further their education in the arts. You are not required to participate
in this event, but you will have first choice for involvement and planning.
ARE
YOU SOMEONE WHO EXCELS IN YOUR ARTISTIC PROFESSION? DO YOU UTILIZE MANY

Electric W.O.M.B. presents an on-site forum at Studio 880:
Juggling the art, craft, and business of a recording project. Special
Guests include Leslie Anne Jones of Skywalker Sound, Nina Bombardier of
Fantasy Studios, and singer/songwriter Jerra. We will explore the ins
and outs of the recordings studio - discussing the past, present, future
of the industry as well as the process of making and marketing a live
recording. This is a unique opportunity to get out of your bedroom studios
to see how the pro's get it done! Among other things, we will be talking
about the importance of developing a relationship with a studio, the importance
of pre-production work and techniques, whether or not to make a contractual
agreement with musicians/producers/ and artist managers and what all of
it means to your recording. Special thanks to this discussion's participating
experts...
LESLIE ANN JONES started at ABC Recording Studios in
Los Angeles in 1975, the first female recording engineer ever hired there
in a time when very few female recording engineers were anywhere in the
country. Moving up the ladder, she soon moved to Northern California to
accept a staff position at the legendary Automatt Recording Studios and
started her film score mixing career with Apocalypse Now. In 1987 she
accepted a position as staff engineer with Capitol Studios located in
the historic Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood, recording projects with
artists as well as the scores for several feature films and television
shows. Ten years later she returned to Northern California to accept a
position with Skywalker Sound, to manage and mix at their Scoring Stage
where she combines her skills as an engineer in the studio with managing
a recording studio. She also enjoy the unique combination of music for
records and film. Leslie is National Vice-Chairman of The National Academy
of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization that gives out the Grammy
Awards. She is the first woman to hold a National Officer position in
The Recording Academy. http://www.skysound.com
NINA BOMBARDIER is has owned and managed Fantasty Studios
for over 30
years. In 1971 they opened as an in-house studio for Fantasy Records and
then opened to the public in 1980. Large rooms, vintage mic and outboard
collections and a selection of live echo chambers and EMT plates define
Fantasty as a classic American recording institution. The studios have
hosted legendary artists of all genres as well as being a strong supporter
of the Bay Area music scene. A wide variety of services are offered, including
recording, mixing, scoring, editing, transfer, ASR and Foley. http://www.fantasystudios.com
JERRA delivers her collective ideas in the form of song,
blending influences from rock, jazz, and electronic music. Born in Los
Angeles, she followed
her education in the arts across the country. At 14, she moved from the
beaches of San Diego to study and graduate from Interlochen Arts Academy
in northern Michigan, focusing on creative writing and jazz guitar. Jerra
then entered New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she
graduated
from the Dramatic Writing Program concentrating on Playwriting, specifically
musical writing. She has read her poetry at the Library of Congress, won
numerous writing awards and played her music extensively from the age
of 13 at venues across the US. Now living and working in San Francisco,
Jerra
recently performed her song "Lady America" at the mass march
and rally against war in Iraq. http://www.jerra.com
..and extra thanks to MORGANNE BECK for arranging this
fantastic event!
ELECTRIC W.O.M.B. is a new organization with an intention
