About Rachna Vohra
Depending on whom you ask, Rachna either means creation or creation of God. Either way, I lived into my name - or it lived into me. A little bit about me:
I am passionate about words
I find a balance between being both spiritual and goofy about life
I started writing in elementary school because of a weekly assignment in English class
I majored in computers and business in university
I like to be alone
I love the silence, I can sit in it forever
I self-published my first book of poetry, The Distance Within
I once quit my job to move to India to volunteer as a teacher at an NGO in Bangalore
I went there to save the world
I didn't save the world
Writing is my passion
Kids love me
I don't know why
I claim it is because they sense the good in me
Sometimes I lose the sense of the good in me
I started my own editing and writing company called S'Apostrophe
I have a cough that makes my best friend laugh hysterically
I think I can sing well
My mom agrees
I think she's lying
I type extremely fast but with only three fingers
Only one of my friends finds everything I say funny
That's enough for me
I love to laugh so uncontrollably that I cry
I love to cry
I am a Bhangra queen
After a dear friend passed away, I wrote and self-published The Acorn and the Caterpillar
I believe in laughing, not just wishing for laughter
I use my photographs to describe what my words sometimes cannot
The kids I meet through the Make a Wish Foundation give me hope
I secretly want to be a Bollywood star
Ok – it's not such a secret
Sometimes I feel like a phony
I like simplicity
My first poetry submission was featured in a fundraiser book, Beyond Memories
I found myself once
I lost myself after that
I am still searching for myself
I have realized that I cannot ignore my passion for writing
I designed a line of clothing and started a handmade greeting card production
I believe in destiny
I have tried everything from choreography to dancing to making jewelry
I haven’t had an appendix since I was 11 years old
All my other organs are in tact, to the best of my knowledge
Sometimes I wonder about my liver
I work as a technical writer and trainer
I have a slight case of obsessive compulsive disorder
I hope to forever express myself through words and art
I drive myself crazy sometimes
Ok – often
I am on a journey
I want my love to be the stuff of legends,
My words to be the stuff of English classes,
And my heart to be the one that changed the world
(not necessarily in that order!)
