untitled

by Rachna Vohra

oh, how twisted this love thing is...

where at once i prey on others...
then turn to pray on him...

somehow when i least expect it,
a feeling surfaces in the sea of blood and tears in my heart...

like a volcano that lay dormant for so long,
it rumbles with a burning desire,
and overflows with the most intense of passions...

and all he said was hello...

my fearful fingers tremble while my heart puts down its armour,
far enough but not out of reach...

and the temptation,
the intensity of it all pushes through my body
while my mind rotates in a tornado of delirium
with memories, anxiety, and tears getting caught up in the whirlwind...

and then, as if the climax has passed in the orgasm of the mind,
she cries because her clothes were torn,
and her heart was raped...

and she lies in a pool of burning love,
and weeps for the victim in her,
for the risk she took,
and for the loss she bore...
for her innocence,
and the burden of her love...

for him...

for the future that never was, and the past that always will be...

and with the memory of his arms around her, she comforts herself to sleep...

the storm is passed,
but the tragedy of its remains will linger forever,
like his tears on her face,
and her scars on his heart...
