RESUME
:BIOGRAPHY:
Reneé Antoinette Fox was born on October 15, 1973 in Frederick,
MD. Michelle Reneé Fox (dancer and musician) shared her love
of dance, music and visual art with her only daughter and three
sons. She would play guitar, sing and dance for her children often.
Reneé embraced the more solitary visual arts as her personal
form of expression. She was schooled in various artistic disciplines,
languages and religion as an adolescent at the Visitation Academy,
Catholic School for girls.
At age 17, in 1991, Reneé graduated from high school with
honors and made her own home in Washington, DC. She attended Catholic
University for one year studying architecture but decided that her
creativity would not be put to its best use in that profession.
For several years, Reneé traveled, lived and learned in many
different places in the country. She made the decision in 1997 to
become a professional artist. She attended the Corcoran College
of Art and Design in Washington D.C.. While at the Corcoran, Reneé
studied classical painting techniques under the mentorship of Professor
William Newman, assisted in his studio and worked as a teaching
assistant. During this time, she was active in showing and selling
her work independently and through DC galleries. Reneé began
to make use of her contacts, working as a freelance muralist.
In search of creative diversity and a warmer climate, in 2000, Reneé
relocated to Los Angeles, CA. She earned her BFA in 2002 from Otis
College of Art and Design where she studied with mentor, Professor
Linda Burnham. Renee acquired valuable knowledge in an apprenticeship
with Linda, working as her personal studio assistant and as her
teaching assistant at the college. At Otis, she gained an appreciation
for art theory and modern art and made lasting friendships with
fellow students and teachers at Otis. Differences in culture and
in the natural California environment such as the quality of light
and types of plants have been strong influences in her work. Los
Angeles proves to be an exciting art scene and an inspiring place
for Reneé to continue with her art career.
Reneé's continued contact with friends and clients across
the country has facilitated her joint establishment and operation
of an LA based and nationwide mural painting and artist resource
company. RAFKHO Studios was established in 2000 by Reneé
and artist Kenneth Ober. Reneé currently shows and sells
her work to private collectors, independent locations with peers
and through Gallery 825. Her work can be seen at www.laaa.org,
