: BIO :

Sara’s formative years were based in Colorado. At a young age Sara's older sister would introduce her to a range of Arts and 80's Music with visits to DAM, and days of watching MTV. Sara was significantly influenced by artists such as Sandy Skoglund's 1989 exhibition “Fox Games”, John DeAndrea's "Linda", and LTV’s flux of provocative programming.

Sara took piano lessons at the age of nine and discovered that she had an ear for music. At 11 Sara went to art camp where she studied sculpture, painting, beading and 3D collage. In fith and sixth grade, Sara played middle C in the school bell choir. She then experimented with the bass guitar in high school before discovering turntables and funky electronic music. Sara started collecting records and mixing as a hobby, but Sara's creative motivation would land her in Los Angeles to study Fine Art.

Sara moved to LA in 1998 to study at Otis College of Art and Design where she received the Otis Portfolio Scholarship. Sara's majored was Sculpture/ New Genres with an interdisciplinary concentration within Environmental Design and Digital Media. The extensive program offered at Otis College of Art and Design not only gave her the technical ability to create objects and understand space, it also gave her an extreme historical, theoretical and conceptual understanding of art and design.

Sara has been elaborating on her interests surrounding her most recent body of painting and photographic works. The series documents and attempts to capture beauty within "active" situations. Environment have becomes subject to toxicity, pollution, abandonment, and abuse.

You may view this series, and many others on Sara's website gallery.

Begining in early 2007, Sara will attend Gnomon School of Visual Effects for a two year 3D certificate programe. Sara will be focusing her work on environmental set design and interactive enviroments. Check Sara's website gallery for updates through the year.
