1. How do I apply?
There are two steps to complete your application. First, fill out the online form. Second, mail your transcripts, SAR/ISIR form and recommendation letters to the address provided.

2. Do I need to send an official copy of transcripts?
If you cannot obtain an official transcript from your school before the postmark deadline, you can send an unofficial transcript. However, we will require all finalists to provide an official transcript.

3. Do I need to submit the recommendation letters with the rest of my online application?
No. The recommendation letters can be mailed separately but must be postmarked by the deadline.

4. I am graduating soon, and I will be entering a new program/school in 2008-2009. Do I need to provide any additional documentation?
Only the finalist will need to provide additional documentation. Once we notify the finalist, they will be asked to mail us a verification letter from the university to show that you will be enrolled in the new program/school in the 2008-2009 academic year.

5. Can international students apply for the scholarship? What about US residents studying outside the US?
No. The United Divas Creative Scholarship is currently only available to United States residents attending schools in the United States.

6. I am not a visual artist. Can I apply?
The United Divas Creative Scholarship is dedicated to supporting students who are studying any branch of the Arts, or closely related creative majors. This can include but is not limited to visual, performing, language, culinary and/or physical arts.

7. I applied to the scholarship last year (or a previous year) but was not chosen as a finalist. Can I apply again?
Yes, you can apply again.

8. I was selected as a finalist/United Divas Scholar last year (or a previous year). Can I apply again?
If you were previously selected as a finalist/United Divas Scholar, you can apply again. You can only win as a finalist a maximum of two times.

9. Can men apply?
Yes. United Divas is dedicated to supporting women in the arts. However, gender is not a consideration in choosing the recipient of our scholarship.

10. How will I know if my application has been received?
You will receive an automatically generated notification once you submit your online application. You can include a self-addressed, stamped postcard with the documents that you mail if you would like us to mail you a confirmation receipt.

11. How do I apply for an internship?
The online application form includes a check box if you are interested in internship opportunities. If you check this box, a United Divas representative will contact you via email separate from the scholarship to follow up.

12. If I am selected, how will the funds be distributed to me?
United Divas will distribute the scholarship funds to you through the Financial Aid Office of your university, for you to use for tuition, fees, books, and supplies. We have found that this process also enables students to receive the funds without being taxed.

13. My “type of school” selection is still telling me to make a selection after i submit it and i already have made one. what do i do?
This was occurring to applicants who applied before June 23, 2008 because of an error in the way I set up the form. Many people worked around this error by selecting “other”, even though the school they listed was a 4 year university/college. That is fine and will have no bearing on the selection process. I have fixed this problem, so people who were unable to successfully submit their application previously should be able to submit their forms now; as long as they have filled out all of the required fields marked with a red asterisk. Please NOTE CHANGES TO FORM INSTRUCTIONS if you are applying on or after June 23, 2008.
