Offering
a deliberate look at the ordinary and commonplace, S.E.
Barnet strives to uncover what lies hidden beneath the surface.
Barnet's interest lies in the discrepancy of the actual
with the expected.
Her videos, films, and installations have been exhibited
nationally and internationally including at The American
Academy in Rome Italy, in Galerie Christine Koenig , Vienna
and in (d)vision as part of the Beidermeyer Festival for
Digital Culture also in Vienna.
She has received various grants and awards including a Durfee
ARC grant, the Long Beach Museum of Art’s 1999 New
Vision’s Video Production Grant, the Panavision Young
Filmmakers Award and, as part of the MOISTURE collective,
a LEF Arts Foundation grant and a Beall Center for the Arts
grant.
She has contributed illustrations and writing to three projects
published by Verse Chorus Press and currently has writing
included in artist Susan Silton's Tornado in a Box available
through Feigen Gallery in New York.
Barnet is currently completing a web based project in co-production
with the Banff Centre for the Arts which has been included
in the Media@terrra microMuseum, and will soon be viewable
at www.remotepromise.com.
